Passenger Ships

As early as 1992, the Terminal has been a port of call for numerous cruise ship lines. As you cruise to and from Alexandria on the Potomac River, you pass the historical sites of Fort Washington, Gunston Hall Plantation, and George Washingtons' Mount Vernon. While berthed at Robinson Terminal, you witness from the deck of the ship the panoramic view of the D.C. skyline that includes the U.S. Capitol, Washington Monuments and the City of Alexandria. With the berths located in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, there are shops, restaurants and historic sites within walking distance of the ship. Minutes away from the Metro Rail System, you're only a short ride from many points of interest in the area. Thirty-five cruise ships have visited the Terminal during the last several years.

Some of these cruise ships included the Crown Monarch and Jewel, M/S Leeward, P/V LeLevant, and the M/S Deutschland. Some cruise ships such as the Silver Cloud, Hanseatic, and the Seabourn Pride make frequent annual port calls to Alexandria.

Working with the M/S Leeward, we were able to disembark over 1,000 passengers and clear them and their luggage through U.S. Customs and Immigration; ALSO, we were able to embark over 1,000 passengers in ample time for the cruise ship to depart at 1300 hours on the same day of arrival.

Naval ships frequent our port for "shore leave" for the crewmen as well as celebrating the Red Cross Festival and other related ship ceremonies. Such naval ships as the USNS Bowditch, USS Mohawk, USS Whirlwind, USS Cardinal, and the USNS Henson have visited our Port of Alexandria. In June 1997, two German Class 206A submarines and its' escort utilized our berth. The tour of the Submarines was televised on national morning shows.
